H4H Purpleheart Coffee Table

Do you love purple? I mean really love purple? If you do, then check this out.

Hi! My name is Jimmy McAfee and I built the purple coffee table being auctioned by Hearts for Homes. My wife, Kim, and I have supported H4H for years. We live in Flower Mound where we completed this project. Let me tell you a little about this piece.

What is Purpleheart wood?

The table is 100% built from purpleheart wood. This brilliant color is totally natural. There are no colorants, stains, or additives other than a clear spar urethane coating for protection. This is an exotic wood species native to Central and South America. After the lumber is milled, air and UV light combine to turn the color bright purple. It is an exceptionally dense, hard and durable wood (~50% harder than oak). Over time, the wood naturally darkens and becomes a deep plum color.

The size is standard (top 24″x46″, height 18″). The aprons are attached to the legs with mortice and tenon construction that provides strength and a beautiful accent. The top is just under 1″ thick. It is an heirloom piece that can be enjoyed for years to come.

This particular batch of wood came from Central Hardwoods in Dallas and I completed all of the work in my garage shop. All of the planing, cutting and sanding left me with piles of fairy dust to sweep!

Every piece of furniture that I make has a blessing on the back or bottom. These are my personal prayers for the homes where they will live and part of my ministry to spread God’s love. If you take this beauty home, turn it over to discover the blessing spoken over your life.

It has been a pleasure to spend several weeks hand crafting this table because I believe in the work performed by Susan and the entire Hearts for Homes team. It is just one of several pieces I have made that they have auctioned the past two years. I have poured my best into this piece for the sake of the work they do. Hopefully, you will join me in supporting this ministry with the gifts that God has given to you.

Be blessed.
